There are a variety of songs written for weddings including a selection of father daughter wedding songs, wedding entrance songs and those appropriate for portions of the service. Here is a useful checklist, starting with your ceremony.
The Processional For The Parents And Grandparents.
The Processional For The Bridesmaids (and Groomsmen, if applicable).
The Processional For The Bride.
These ceremony songs are actually wedding entrance songs for entering the ceremony area and heading to the altar. Other songs you may need during a ceremony might be music for the unity candle, sand, wine, or whatever is traditional or incorporated into your service. Perhaps adding a live song during communion would be appropriate.
The Recessional.
This is the exit song, after you have been pronounced man and wife. All of the wedding party leaves behind you, followed by the parents and immediate family and normally you’ll either head into the hall for a reception line or go directly to the reception location.
The Grand Entrance or the The Wedding Party Entrance Songs.
The Grand Entrance Song For The Bride And Groom.
The First Dance.
Sometimes the first dance song is saved for after dinner, but it can be mixed in with all of the other special songs, like father daughter wedding songs.
Music For Video Slideshow.
This one doesn’t happen too often, but you will need to choose songs for this if you use a video.
Father Daughter Wedding Songs.
Mother Son Wedding Songs.
Parents Dance Wedding Songs.
Wedding Party Dance Wedding Songs.
You probably do not want to have a separate song for each of the above dances, as this will make your wedding…night…d…r…a…g! Combine some, by having the Father Daughter dance, and then half way through, the mother and son join in. You can even start the wedding party dance and the parents dance all together.
Bouquet and Garter Toss Songs.
Money Dance Songs. ( This is another optional dance…but why not! Cha-ching!)
The Last Dance.
Those are the main events needing songs at just about every wedding. Just remember to have fun, choose a variety of music for all ages and don’t forget about the grandparents and children!
